The approved timetable has now been released to students today and they have one week in which to review the timetable and report back with any issues. The deadline for any feedback is Friday 8 November, with the final version of the timetable scheduled for release on Tuesday 12 November.  The updated timetable has been uploaded to our SharePoint<https://moss.strath.ac.uk/inst/studentlifecycle/exams/SitePages/Home.aspx> site.

Subject: Draft timetable - Semester 1 Exam Diet - ADD BETH STEWART, COLIN FYFE

Good morning,

The draft exam timetable for the Semester 1 exams is now available from the exams Sharepoint page<https://moss.strath.ac.uk/inst/studentlifecycle/exams/SitePages/Home.aspx>

Please can you review the exams for your department carefully and contact us immediately if you identify any issues.

This represents the best possible timetable for the majority of students and to help you understand how we have scheduled and prioritised the exams, and so that you can manage student expectations accordingly, we have extracted the following information for you -


*         An additional 31 exam requirements have been requested this year compared to last year; as well as a greater number of students sitting exams.

o   Over half of these exams are part of a joint grouping, which places significant additional constraints during scheduling.


*         We have been able to meet the majority of requirements for fixed dates/times.


*         Where possible exams have been scheduled into rooms large enough to accommodate them BUT as don't have enough large exam venues some exams have had to be split.



*         We have already looked at clashes and back to back exams and where possible have moved exams accordingly.


Almost every slot in the timetable has been used and there is minimal room for manoeuvre. Therefore, as previously stated it's unlikely that we'll be able to accommodate any amendment requests. If we were to move just one exam (into a slot already occupied by another exam) it would create a ripple effect that would be detrimental to the integrity of the timetable.

For guidance, please note that we will only be able to consider amendments to the timetable in the following circumstances:


-          Change from a central pool room to a department room

-          Confirmation of a department venue

-          Deletion of an exam

-          Addition of an exam that has been previously omitted (if possible).

The deadline for any amendment requests is Friday 25/10/19 and these should submitted by email to exams-admin at strath.ac.uk<mailto:exams-admin at strath.ac.uk>.

If you have no amendment requests can you please email to let us know that you have checked and approve the draft timetable.
