Dear All,

The Brilliant Club are currently recruiting University of Strathclyde
PhD students for this coming Autumn. We would be grateful if you could
promote the below and attached details to staff across your
Faculties/Departments and on to their students.

*Brilliant Club recruiting PhD students*

The University of Strathclyde has been collaborating with the Brilliant
Club for a number of years, working in schools in and around Glasgow as
part of our commitment to widening access.

The Brilliant Club

charity that works alongside 38 partner universities, over 700
non-selective state schools across the UK. They aim to support fair
access to Higher Education, by mobilising the PhD community to share its
academic expertise and experience of university with pupils from low
participation backgrounds. At the same time, they want to offer
researchers a meaningful, enjoyable and developmental opportunity which
they are suitably remunerated for.

Through The Scholars Programme, they recruit and train PhD and ECR
researchers, and then place them in one of our partner schools
to deliver a programme of university-style tutorials. Both the Brilliant
Club and Strathclyde believe it's of huge importance and mutual benefit,
for bright pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to get to study with
world experts in their fields. Through the programme researchers benefit
from:

· Teaching and module design experience

· Pedagogical training

· Opportunities for public engagement and dissemination of research

· Development of employability skills

· Opportunity to join a nationwide community of researchers making a
significant impact on access to HE

· Remuneration (£500 per placement + travel expenses)

To date, they have placed over 1,700 researchers across the UK.

We are currently recruiting PhD students for the Autumn term and would
be grateful if this opportunity could be promoted. For further details,
please contact Dr Stephanie Mckendry (Head of Access, Equality and
Inclusion) stephanie.mckendry at strath.ac.uk
