This message is for academic staff who have already been approved for the resumption of laboratory-based research in the John Anderson building.

There are a few very recent changes to the standard operating procedure agreed with RRDG for the John Anderson building. These are:

(1) As of today, the main back door on level 1 can now also be used for entrance and exit (in addition to the main doors on level 5). All RRDG-approved staff should now be able to use their access card for entry and exit via the main doors on levels 1 and 5. No other doors are permitted for entry or exit (except in case of emergency).

(2) Swipe card readers are now installed on the main corridor doors to help with track and trace. Staff and PGRs should use their access cards when entering and exiting each corridor.

(3) The normal working hours for access to the John Anderson building are 8am-6pm, as set by the RRDG. However, it is now possible to get out-of-hours access (up to 10pm on weekdays and weekend access) to complete experimental tasks that cannot be achieved during normal working hours. Staff/PGRs need to be approved in advance for this level of access (their cards need to be activated for this) and requests, justifying the need, should be submitted to John Gillan. This out-of-hours access scheme will proceed on a trial basis.

Group leaders are asked to please cascade this message to Research staff and PGRs their groups who have been approved for the resumption of laboratory-based research in the John Anderson building. Thanks.

Kind regards,

Gabrielle
