Dear all,

The EPSRC have issued a pre-announcement for Quantum Technology Career Development Fellowships:

https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/quantum-technology-career-development-fellowships/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ukri.org%2Fopportunity%2Fquantum-technology-career-development-fellowships%2F%3Futm_medium%3Demail%26utm_source%3Dgovdelivery&data=04%7C01%7Ccath.cheshire%40strath.ac.uk%7C1389dff0a6d34111e97408d93fc28b1f%7C631e0763153347eba5cd0457bee5944e%7C0%7C0%7C637610927046701333%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=%2FrVhmgsPh4M%2FWfpscS2HlasPTCgujf3n50wmiZziF6c%3D&reserved=0>. The call is due to open on 4 August with a submission deadline on 6 October 2021.

The Fellowship is to enable those currently in postdoctoral positions to transition towards leading an independent research group. Applicants should hold a postdoctoral position (or have equivalent experience if not currently in an academic setting) and be working in the quantum technology sector. There are no eligibility rules regarding number of years of postdoctoral experience or requirement for applicants to hold a permanent academic position.

I write to invite expressions of interest for applications, with two deadlines. The first deadline is 5pm on 30th July, and applies only to internal candidates from the Department of Physics. With this first deadline we aim to give candidates early feedback on their draft. The second deadline is 11th August, for both internal and external candidates to submit their completed EoIs. We will review these internally, with the aim of advising all applicants of the outcome as soon as possible to give time to prepare full applications.

The EoI should be a document of maximum 2 pages in Arial 11pt font and should contain, as per the pre-announcement information, details of theoretical or experimental research to be conducted within the fellowship, training and development activities to enable you to expand or enhance your role and career, and/or collaboration with other research bodies, both in the UK and abroad, industry or other users. These EoIs should be submitted to me (g.mcconnell at strath.ac.uk<mailto:g.mcconnell at strath.ac.uk>) as per the deadline(s) above.

If you have any questions about this process please get in touch.

Thanks,

G.
