Dear All,

Here are some preliminary information about next year's PH450 Project arrangements:

  * COVID situation still uncertain, projects will need a fall-back position in case that supervision and project work is still to be conducted remotely
  * It would be good if people could reassess the projects they offered in 2020-21 and whether they could be run in much the same format in case there are continuing restrictions on in-person activities/lab access/etc.
  * I shall be making a formal call for project topics from supervisors next week. Hopefully, the number of projects required will be a little bit less than it was for this previous year. As before, there will be load balancing performed to spread out students.
  * As before, Students can arrange projects with Supervisors on an ad hoc basis (e.g. a summer student wanting to keep working with a supervisor or group), but there must be a clear distinction between any previous work done by the student and the PH450 project, this is in the interests of fairness to other students starting projects from scratch. If you and a student agree on a project prior to the standard allocation process (Sem 1 Wks 0,1), please discuss this with me.

Schedule:

  * July 2021 Request for Projects from Supervisors, due 9th August
