Dear all,

Following on from Nigel's email, please let me know if your student will be in the lab for some/all of their project. I am still waiting for instructions on how approval will be managed (i.e. if these students have to complete forms as the PGRs have done, or if it won't be necessary).

Thanks,

Gabrielle

Subject: 5th year Projects

Dear All,

I will be sending you a oneDrive link to an Excel file that contains details relating to the 5th year project students registered on either PH550 or PH570 this year.If a student you are expecting to continue on into 5th year is not on the list then that student has either transferred to the BSc degree in the summer and graduated or has not satisfied the progression requirements for 4th year and so will be repeating or completing the 4th year project next academic year.

The expectation is that students will continue to work on the projects that they started last year. Given the current relaxation in the Covid rules, it looks like it will be possible for students to come on campus and complete their project work in research labs. If you are expecting students to come on campus then please ask them to attend the safety training activities that the department will be offering in Week 1. Further details will be sent out when the dates are confirmed.

Key dates are as follows

Semester 1
Week 1 13 - 17 September 2021: PH550 Supervisors to meet with students to discuss project work for session 2021/22 and to provide feedback on PH450
Week 10 15 - 19 November 2021: Talks - more details will be provided at a later date on the format of the talks
Week 13 Friday 10 December 2021: Students submit a draft of their report
Week 14 Friday 17 December 2021: Staff provide feedback to students on draft by this date

Semester 2
Week 0 Thursday 6th January 2022: Students upload report to MyPlace
Week 1 10 - 14 January 2022 Vivas

Vivas will be done over Zoom. Please let me know if you are away Week 1 10 - 14 January 2022 of semester 2.

Nigel
