Happy New Year All,

As the new teaching semester approaches I want to remind you all about keeping up to date with student feedback and also managing student expectations I this regard. We have had some complaints in semester 1 about this and would like to minimise these in semester 2.

Normally the students will expect feedback within 15 working days (typically 3 weeks, but could be more over the holidays). This is what module evaluations surveys state.

Also on expectation management I suggest including a statement about the types of feedback that students will receive in the class. This could be at the top of the Myplace page and an example is as follows (add and subtract things relevant for your class, or make your own up) :

You will receive feedback on your performance in this class.
The types of feedback (as defined by the University) available are as follows
1. Online feedback on the answers to the online quizzes.
2. Marks for online quizzes and assessments.
3. Verbal answers to student questions in lectures and tutorials.
4. Verbal guidance on work that you are doing in any face to face tutorials that we have.

Regards
John
