Hi All,

I have been asked if I would circulate information on the IOP’s national 3 Minute Wonder (3MW) science-communication competition.
The competition is open to early career researchers working in any physics-related subject who are within the first 12 years of their career (allowing for career breaks) following the award of a first degree.

IOP’s national 3 Minute Wonder (3MW) science-communication competition returns. 3MW challenges researchers or project team members working on physics-related problems in academia, business or industry to explain their work in just three minutes; each participant pitching to a panel of established science communicators and an interested but non-specialist audience.

IOP Scotland are running a heat. Applicants can apply (via the link at https://www.iop.org/3mw#gref<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.iop.org%2F3mw%23gref&data=04%7C01%7Cc.trager-cowan%40strath.ac.uk%7Cb0fa4eefb0a34c2595dd08da170278d5%7C631e0763153347eba5cd0457bee5944e%7C0%7C0%7C637847596630347352%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=rQ4VdAXDIUbEiHnS%2B9mePzfun7lLosuXIX2XG0CtHQ0%3D&reserved=0>) and submit their video entry (to iopscotland at physics.org<mailto:iopscotland at physics.org>). Judges will then mark the video presentations. The winner will not only be featured in Physics World but will also compete again in the Grand Final (17 May 2022, Royal Institution) against the victors from all the other IOP national and regional heats.

Full information about the overall competition including the competition rules can be found at www.iop.org/3mw<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.iop.org%2F3mw&data=04%7C01%7Cc.trager-cowan%40strath.ac.uk%7Cb0fa4eefb0a34c2595dd08da170278d5%7C631e0763153347eba5cd0457bee5944e%7C0%7C0%7C637847596630347352%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=r0cavP3fTWFU5zrWKYs0%2BTuRStXeV0L89W7nYIc%2BrmU%3D&reserved=0>

Closing date for applications and video submissions is 3pm, 18th April 2022
