Subject: Operational Considerations following the death of Her Majesty
Dear colleagues,
It is with great sorrow that I am required to write to you to advise you on the University’s expectations with respect to teaching and examinations following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty.
Our guidance is that teaching should continue as normal in the period of mourning, the period between now and the State funeral. Similarly, if examinations or assessments are scheduled our guidance is to continue with them as planned during the period of mourning.
On the day of Her Majesty’s funeral, expected to be a public holiday, the Principal has decided that the university will be closed as a mark of respect and no teaching or examination will take place on that day. Classes will need to be rescheduled from that day and we ask for your support in enabling this.
Could I ask you to cascade this guidance to your academic colleagues, please ?
Best regards,
Stuart
