Hi all,

At the end of the month the Scottish branch of the Institute of Physics will have their annual public engagement festival, the Big Bounce, which will be held in the Barrowlands area. We’ll have a number of events running from Strathclyde Physics, and would be very happy to have more participants.

The Institute of Physics (IOP – not to be confused with the Institute of Photonics) are also looking for volunteers to help out at the event and will provide lunch and cover any travel costs. The text below is the IOPs advertising to try entice anyone to help

Best,
Griff

As part of the Limit Less Campaign, The Big Bounce festival brings simple, exciting science to the East End of Glasgow on Sat 29 and Sun 30 October. Families can enjoy a free day out and get involved with magnets, crafts, rainbows, galaxies and stilt-walkers. Hands-on activities, interactive shows and workshops let parents and kids alike connect easily with physics.

We have plenty of opportunities for volunteers, including: helping at drop-in stands, talking about physics with attendees, collecting feedback, and other jobs throughout the day. Volunteering for the IOP is a great way to experience the world of public engagement and make connections with families, academics and science communicators. As always, the IOP will provide volunteers with lunch and travel expenses. To get a feel for the event, check out our highlight video from last year's festival - The Big Bounce Video .
