Dear all,
Please can you ensure that there is a copy of at least one pre-covid
style exam paper available on your Myplace page as the library will not
provide these. Worked solutions should not be provided.
Due to the lack of examination practice for the students in recent
years, we encourage all classes to give the students some practice of
sitting in-person exams before the exam diet. This is particularly
important for those with modules examined at the end of this semester.
One way to do this is to use a tutorial or lecture slot to give them a
mock partial exam. For example, in a 1 hour slot they attempt unseen
exam question(s) that you would expect them to be able to complete in
half an hour under exam-type conditions. They then swap papers with a
classmate and you go over the solution with the marking rubric so that
they can peer mark the attempts. This gives them an opportunity not only
to experience exam-type conditions, but also to understand how the
marking is done and the importance of laying their solutions out clearly.
For those teaching classes with exams after semester 2 we encourage you
to run at least one of these mock exams before the May exam diet.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Alison
