Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know that the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) is looking for a new Director, because the current Head of SUPA, Prof Alan Miller, is stepping down early in 2023. All of the Physics Departments in Scotland have agreed to continue to support SUPA for at least the next 3 years, at a level which can ensure the successful continued operation of both the SUPA Graduate School and the SUSSP Summer Schools. Ideally the new Director will also lead SUPA to explore new funding opportunities and interdisciplinary connections.

The position will be at 40% FTE, i.e. 2 days a week, for the next 3 years, and in principle it could be based in any of the partner Universities. It could be externally advertised (as it was when Alan was appointed) but equally it might be an attractive (funded) partial secondment opportunity for a motivated member of staff within one of our Physics Department, or a recently retired or honorary staff member.

If you might be interested in being considered for this position, or if you are able to suggest a suitable candidate, then please let me know by Friday 28th October.

Best wishes

Stefan
