Dear Colleagues,

Please see below. In case you know of anyone whom we could nominate for the Leverhulme International Professorships scheme, would you be able to let me know by EOB Monday? Many thanks.

Best wishes,

Stefan

Leverhulme International Professorships

https://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/leverhulme-international-professorships

Internal deadline: 09 June 2023

External deadline: 22 November 2023

Each UK University is permitted to make only one bid to this call.

Applications are invited from universities seeking to recruit excellent research leaders of any nationality, currently working outside the UK. International Professorships should fulfil strategically important positions in this country and contribute to the institution's strategic aims and objectives.

Professorial candidates may conduct research in any subject area, with certain exceptions (https://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/research-we-do-not-fund).

Funding for the Professorships is up to £1M per annum for 5 years.

The expectation is that the candidate (and their staff, where possible) will be appointed permanently and will be offered an ongoing package of support after the end of the award.

Given the institutional support expectations and the funder cap, an internal candidate selection process will be in operation.

Faculties are invited to nominate 1 candidate each and provide the following documentation for review by an Institutional Selection Panel by 9 June 2023 (email: louise.virdee at strath.ac.uk<mailto:louise.virdee at strath.ac.uk>):

* A statement of support setting out how this appointment meets the strategic objectives of the Department/School, Faculty and University (up to 3 pages). The case for the appointment should explain why the post is important for the university and its significance more generally in the UK context. This should include confirmation for the Head of Department/School that they have agreed this nomination with their Dean and that both the Department/School and Faculty are willing to commit.

* A detailed curriculum vitae (up to 10 pages) and summary of the particular qualities of the candidate who will fill the Professorship.

* A statement from the Professorial candidate (up to 3 pages) setting out how this appointment is important and interesting to them and how they expect the post will contribute to their career development and that of their team. Brief details of any key staff who will be involved and their planned

contribution should also be included (the Candidate is not required to submit a fully worked-up research project).
