We have received our annual allocation of EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) and University studentship funding under what is now called the John Anderson Research Studentship Scheme (JARSS). We have funding for both EPSRC-funded 3.5 year studentships + University-funded 3 year studentships with an expected start date of Oct 2024 (with some flexibility). Some of these have been distributed to research groups for allocation and the remainder are available for good candidates.
Please note :
* the expected contribution from supervisors is £5K p.a. Contributions from external sources are encouraged where possible.
* up to 30% of the University's EPSRC studentship allocation can be used to fund international candidates. In order to cover the difference between home and international fees (approx. £19K p.a.!), supervisors will have to apply for a Differential Fee Scholarship (DFS) or cover the difference from some other source.
* The final deadline for applications is April 2024, but the earlier we can make offers to strong candidates the better.
* the old JARA studentship scheme, which involved a deadline in May/June , is no longer running.
If you are interested in submitting an application or have questions please get in touch.
I will be giving a presentation on PhD study/opportunities to 4th year/5th year UGs and MSc students at 3pm on Wednesday - if you want me to advertise a studentship please send me details.
Regards
Gordon
