Dear All,

I am looking for propositions for the MSc projects this year, please. Interest seems to be quite distributed covering all groups of the department but there is still a dominant need for experimental. Expectation is that every academic is supplying a project either directly or via a research assistant. The Teaching Committee approved that if no MSc project is provided without reason, a project from the UG list (attached) will be included in the PGT prospect.

Please supply the project descriptions on the attached template to Melanie <melanie.taylor at strath.ac.uk>, till 19/01/2024

If you want to reoffer one of the projects from the UG list, just provide the reference number from the list.

You can agree with a student on a bespoke project till then and even later, but any project which is in the project booklet must then be distributed centrally.

Tentative timeline is
* 20/05/2024: project start, literature review
* 04/06/2024 (TBC): start of supervised work after progression decision of the first PGT board
* 17/06/2024: initial literature review due (formative)
* 24/07/2024 (TBC): progress review workshop, 8 min talk (formative)
* 01/08/2024: structure of report due (formative)
* 08/08/2024: 10 pages of report due for feedback (formative)
*  15/08/2024: report due

* 20/08-30/08/2024: vivas and talks. Be prepared that due to scheduling constraints or delays in project, assessment might extend later.

Thank you very much for providing project opportunities.

I wish you all a good Christmas break and a good start to the new year.

Regards

Thorsten
