[Academic] Reminder about new staff contracts

Dear all,

Stefan has asked me to remind you that we are not allowed to backdate payments for staff who have started working before they have a contract and ATA approved.

If you have someone starting on a new contract, please let Kirsten and Catherine know straight away - and before they start work.  We can arrange for them to be paid from a temporary budget code until the funding comes through and budget codes are set up.  We also MUST COMPLETE RIGHT TO WORK CHECKS BEFORE STAFF BEGIN WORK.  These have to be completed for each new contract, even if the person has previously been checked.  We then have to have a contract in place within a week of them starting work.

HR is cracking down on this, so we need to be compliant.
