What John is really trying to say here is that we should be looking to find someone among us, that is willing to volunteer and that we can nominate. Please give this some thought.

Dear Dr Jeffers,
The Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Quantum Control Group (http://qqq.iop.org) is now seeking new committee members and would like to invite nominations for the following posts:
Chair
Hon Secretary
Hon Treasurer
Ordinary member x 3
The committee normally meets in person about twice a year, with a further 2-3 teleconferences in between. It covers a broad spectrum of topics, from the foundations of quantum physics and information theory, through the investigation and control of fundamental physical and chemical phenomena, to new types of quantum technologies, metrology and standards.
The group runs its own meeting (one or two day) once a year, this year it is the Topical Research Meeting on Hybrid Quantum Systems 16-18th December (http://quantumsystems.iopconfs.org/home). In addition it provides sponsorship and is actively involved in organising other National meetings including QuAMP and PHOTON.
Nominations should be made on the attached form and submitted to the honorary secretary, Dr Nicola Wilkin before Wednesday 24th December.
To be eligible for an officer post you must be a corporate member of the Institute (MInstP or FInstP) and a member of the group. All grades of membership are eligible for ordinary member posts. You will also need a proposer and seconder, who should also be corporate members of the Institute and members of the group.
Once the nominations have been received an election will be held if necessary.
If you would like to informally discuss the roles, please contact Dr Nicola Wilkin, n.k.wilkin at bham.ac.uk<mailto:n.k.wilkin at bham.ac.uk>.
Yours Sincerely,
Dr Nicola Wilkin
on behalf of the IOP Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Quantum Control Group Committee
