As part of the University rollout of multi-factor authentication, please try the following to setup MFA for your Strathclyde user account:



•                      Download the Microsoft authenticator app to your mobile

•                      Visit https://aka.ms/mfasetup<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Faka.ms%2Fmfasetup&data=04%7C01%7Crobert.p.cameron%40strath.ac.uk%7C4e87df5678c0469d9a7f08d99950adee%7C631e0763153347eba5cd0457bee5944e%7C0%7C0%7C637709394346208905%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0&sdata=Xnir7BGvLqboTrqD5ZoJU69qa3ykcAiB%2FsZD07QLBi8%3D&reserved=0> and sign in with your @strath.ac.uk email

•                      Scan the QR Code with Authenticator to link your account and phone

•                      Add your mobile number as a second, ‘phone’ method of authentication (so the setup screen looks something like the attached screenshot)

•                      Makes sure you have a PIN code or some access protection to your phone/Authenticator app

•                      Setup a personal MS account to backup the Authenticator app settings to the cloud, in case you’re phone is replaced/broken. The personal MS account to use for backup is entered in the Authenticator App’s Settings | Cloud Backup.



Once you’ve set this up let the IT team know, and we can add you to the PHYS-MFA-EnabledUsers group to start the authentication checks once a month off-campus.



Any issues, we can work them out via email or when we’re on campus.
