Hello,

We've been informed that the network switch for servers in the Curran machine room will be offline from 8am on Friday 16th August for an hour or so, for upgrades.

This will affect the following servers:

Behemoth
Biophotonics image server
Chandra
Cosmos
Eve
Ferro
Kea
Kitsune
Lomond
Nevis
Physmgmtserver
Phys-porpoise
Phys-ruru
PMcK-R815
Ripley
Ruru
Saurus
Tria
Vasquez
Vole
Wildebeest
X-wing

This will also affect the Mathematica license server on wildebeest.

Thanks,

Timothy

Having had conversations with some of you, we are now proposing to schedule this for the morning of Fri 16th August from 8am. Should probably allow an hour of at-risk, in practice it will be much less.

If this time and date will be a problem, let me know.

Jethro.

Subject: Faculties switch reboot due

Hi all,

This is being sent to all those who have equipment hosted in the IS Curran data centre, specifically on the following subnets:

...
130.159.137.128/25 Fac Sci hosted servers
...

To upgrade the OS and fix some vulns etc we need to reboot one of the Faculties switch hosting some of this equipment in the Curran data centre.

Also, that switch link needs to be moved to a new router, and the routing interfaces moved, so we can finally retire an old router, it's the last thing left on it.

I would propose that we do both these works early one weekday morning in the few next weeks, starting at say 8am. Should probably allow an hour of at-risk, in practice it will be much less. If anyone thinks this sort of proposal would be a problem for their services then let me know. Assuming nothing comes up, I'll get back in touch again with a firmer proposal for date and time.

Jethro.
