Subject: Important Information - PECOS V14 Upgrade
Importance: High
Dear Purchasing Co-ordinators,
Can you please pass the following onto all PECOS users in your department.
The Scottish Government has taken the decision to upgrade PECOS from the current version, V13, to a new version, V14, from 1 June 2015. As you will be aware, we are implementing our new Financial Management System (FMS) in early August, and this will replace PECOS. Although we would not wish to upgrade PECOS two months before we move on to a new system, the way PECOS is configured means the upgrade has to apply to all users across the whole of Scotland at the same time, and we have been unable to secure a deferral of the nationwide PECOS upgrade until after August.
The majority of the changes from V13 to V14 relate to the user interface - that is, changes to the design and layout of the screens. Some functions have also disappeared and some have been renamed.
All existing department approval plans will remain the same, as will approval and business rule groups.
Approvers will continue to login to PECOS or approve direct from their emails as they currently do.
To help you become familiar with the changes, and to minimise any potential impact, we are providing the following support:
* An overview of the changes, including screenshots, is available on the Finance web pages http://www.strath.ac.uk/finance/pecos.
* We will be holding two information sessions, including a demonstration of PECOS V14:
* Thursday 28 May 10.00am to 11.00am, McCance 3.01
* Thursday 28 May 14.00pm to 15.00pm, McCance 3.01
These are open sessions and you do not need to book a place. The same information will be presented at both sessions.
* Additionally, for those staff who are members of the Finance Forum, there will be a brief PECOS V14 demonstration at the Forums being held on 14 and 22 May.
If you do have any queries about the forthcoming upgrade, please get in touch.
Kind Regards,
eProcurement Team
