Subject: Dell Procurement Portal
Dear all,
As requested by the ISC Convenor, please see note below explaining the importance of staff within your faculty using the Dell portal for PC procurement.
As you will be aware, the University has a Strategic Technology Partnership in place with Capita. The main aims of this are to deliver IT infrastructure requirements, deliver excellence in the fields of Research, Knowledge Exchange and Education and enhance the experience of all stakeholders who interact with the University. Through this partnership Capita have developed and implemented a long term strategy to provide University with all ICT related support which also includes supply of software services and hardware.
Capita are now able to offer a comparative quote on all items purchased via the DELL portal accessed through the FMS punch out site. In agreement with Dell, the punch out site now has an option to request an e-quote from Capita at the ‘My basket’ stage. We would fully encourage you to use this option to gain a comparative quote on unit price and promote maximum return to the University.
The University benefits from the commercial leverage and buying power that Capita has in place and ultimately results in improved value for money for the University. The University further benefits from a partnership fund with Capita. All procurements directed through Capita contribute a financial bonus to the partnership fund which is directly used to support PHD activity and also for the wider University good.
Our website has been updated with some further information and a guidance document has been created with screen shots to show you the additional step to be taken at the ‘My Basket’ stage of the process to allow Capita to provide you with an e-quote by email.

Please note for all other IT requirements, Procurement continue to promote a number of National Framework agreements, full details of which can be found on the contracts register.
I would appreciate if you could distribute this email to relevant staff in your faculty that it may concern.
