Hello everyone

As far as possible, academics and Universities aim to be apolitical.
However,
we now have two major elections coming up, namely the Scottish
Parliamentary
Elections, and a referendum on whether Britain remains a member of the
European Union, or walks away.

The purpose of this email is NOT to tell you how to vote, or who to
support.
The purpose is to tell you to go out and vote. Unfortunately, this has
recently become more complicated due to a change in legislation with
regards
to voter registration. Historically, a form was sent to households, and
all you
did was enter your details, and send it back to the local council.

Now, you are required to register online in order to be able to vote.
Failure to
do so will see you kicked off the electoral register. The deadline for
registration
should you wish to vote in the Scottish Parliamentary Election is the
18TH APRIL.
For the European Union Referendum, it is the 7TH JUNE. The link to
register is
below.

https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Thank you for reading, and I hope these voting events go your way!

Cheers

Simon
