Dear Colleagues



As you will be aware the University is committed to promoting and valuing equality and diversity of our students, staff and our community.



We are continuing to deliver our ambitious strategy which supports our commitment to maintaining a culturally enriching and inclusive campus community which celebrates diversity and ensures equality. As part of our strategy we are seeking to appoint Equality and Diversity Contacts in each department/ school/ professional services area to lead on this work and to ensure we have a pro-active and consistent approach to equality and diversity developments across the University. Some areas already have staff appointed with this responsibility and  we wish to appoint  Equality and Diversity Contacts across academic departments and professional services. I would very much appreciate and welcome your support in achieving this goal.



Please find attached a job role for an Equality and Diversity  Contact (EDC). The role will support the University in key areas of activity such as conducting Equality Impact Assessment (EIAs) and promoting equality and diversity matters. I would be grateful if you could nominate staff within your department or school and forward details to Naseem Anwar, Equality and Diversity Manager,

by 15 July 2016.



Naseem is an experienced and accomplished ED practitioner with over 28 years of experience acquired in English and Scottish HEIs. Naseem will lead and provide advice, guidance to the EDCs and will deliver induction and relevant training.
