Dear All,
please remember tomorrow's colloquium by

Speaker: Thomas Neukirch, St.Andrews
Topic: Storms in Space - Aspects of Space Plasma Activity in the Solar System (abstract below)

abstract:
The interaction between the plasma permeating the solar system and the magnetic field of the Sun and the planets gives rise to many interesting activity processes. The energy powering space plasma activity is often first stored as magnetic energy, which is then released and converted into other forms of energy, for example thermal energy, kinetic energy in the form of bulk flows or high-energy particle populations. In this talk I will first give a broad overview of plasma processes occurring within the solar system and then focus on a few important of space plasma activity, for example magnetic reconnection.
