Postdoc/Early Career Research Staff Lunchtime Forum
6 August 2013, 11.30 - 13.30, Insight Institute, Collins Gallery (within the Collins Building)
This lunchtime meeting is for postdocs, research assistants and research fellows from all Faculties, schools and departments across the University of Strathclyde.
Please come along to give us feedback, ideas and fresh thinking on how the university supports its research staff population. It will be a chance to meet some other researchers over a friendly and informal lunch. It will be hosted by Josephine Dick, Staff Development Adviser and supported by Claire Nimmo, Researcher Development Manager from RKES, along with academic facilitators, the Equality and Diversity Team & HR.
In particular we are looking for ideas on:
v How we mentor and support researchers to build an independent research career
v How the university should implement the *Concordat for the Career Development of Researchers
v Ways to improve institutional support in your knowledge exchange, international and public engagement activities
v How to better inform and keep you up-to-date about UK-wide initiatives such as Athena Swan, the Concordat to Support Research Integrity and RCUK's Pathways to Impact
v Any other burning issues that are relevant to research staff at the University of Strathclyde.
A lovely lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you're planning to come along but also if you need to cancel your place so we don't end up with lots of wasted food.
**Register to attend at: https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/courseDetails.asp?course=ECFR**
If you can't make it but would like to give feedback or ideas please email Josephine Dick directly - josephine.dick at strath.ac.uk<mailto:josephine.dick at strath.ac.uk>. Please also spread the word and encourage new research staff to attend.
*The HR Excellence in Research Award recognises the commitment of organisations which have a robust and public implementation strategy for improving the career development and management of researchers. In the UK, this focuses on the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.<http://www.vitae.ac.uk/policy-practice/505181/Concordat-to-Support-the-Career-Development-of-Researchers.html>
Kind Regards,
Josephine Dick
Staff Development Adviser (Research Staff)
