SENT ON BEHALF OF PROF TIM BEDFORD
Dear colleagues
To continue furthering the University's strategic objectives to support high quality research, ensure our researchers are well trained, and increase research income, the Researcher Development Programme (RDP) will launch Winter Fellowships Challenge on Monday 3 November 2014. In its fourth year, the initiative aims to provide researchers with a better understanding of the UK and EU funding landscapes, build peer review skills and support them through the application process through mentoring.
Researchers attend three, 2-hour lunchtime sessions to come together with experienced fellowship-holders and reviewers as well as RKES staff to discuss and work on applications, with the end result (over a three month period) being a completed application.
In 2013/14 approx. 20 early career researchers were supported through the process, and this year we'd like to increase that number significantly, engaging staff from all departments/discipline areas where fellowship funding may be available. We would very much like your support in promoting this to your research staff and final year PhD students to encourage them to take part in this practical initiative, which aims to build confidence in our researchers, advancing their careers whilst attracting funding.
Please circulate the advert below to researchers who would benefit from participation in Winter Fellowships Challenge:
WINTER FELLOWSHIPS CHALLENGE
SESSION ONE ON 3 NOVEMBER 2014
Part of the Research Challenge Series in the Researcher Development Programme (RDP), Winter Fellowships Challenge offers the opportunity for researchers to share knowledge and support each other through the process of applying for Fellowships.
Open to all Faculties, participants will discover more about the schemes and opportunities available; tap into the expertise of successful Fellowship holders to help hone their idea and receive 1:1 guidance to help complete their own application. Final year PhD students may apply, and can gain 5 credits towards RD903 if they are registered on the PG Cert in Researcher Professional Development.
REGISTER NOW<https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/courseDetails.asp?course=WFCC> and come along to the first workshop to find out more: 3 November 2014, 12:00-14:00, location LT401 (tea/coffee available from 11.30am)
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Best wishes
Tim
