The internationally renowned Three Minute Thesis Competition<http://www.strath.ac.uk/rdp/threeminutethesiscompetition/> has arrived at Strathclyde! The competition for PhD students kicks off with heats in March, before a University final during Engage with Strathclyde week in May. All that your students need to do to enter is submit a 350 abstract and slide by Monday 22 February. Please highlight this public engagement opportunity to your PhD students, directing their attention to the advert below for full details.

Can you describe your research in three minutes? Do you want to take part in an internationally recognised competition?

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students. Developed by the University of Queensland (UQ), the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation and research communication skills. Students have only three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance using only one slide.

Strathclyde is, for the first time, hosting its own competition in May 2016. The winner of the finals will receive £500 and the opportunity to take part in the national 3MT competition where last year the winner received a £3K grant to spend on a public engagement activity.

If you wish to enter the University heats, which will take place in March 2016, please send a 350 word summary of your presentation and your PowerPoint slide to researcher.development at strath.ac.uk<mailto:researcher.development at strath.ac.uk> by 22 February 2016.
