Subject: [Postgrad] PhD student assessments 2016

Dear All,

Please find attached the details of the postgraduate (PhD) student assessments for 2016. These are separated into year group (1st, 2nd 3rd etc) so please refer to the appropriate set of instructions.

Some students who have started their PhD studies at a non-standard time (ie not with the Sept/Oct intake) may be subject to assessment in January. If you think this applies to you, please discuss this with your supervisor in the first instance as assessment times have been agreed with them in advance.

1st and 2nd year students should note the change to the assessment procedures for 2nd year PhD students. Specifically, from next year (2017), 2nd year students will be expected to submit a draft journal article alongside the existing assessment requirements. We introduce this for the 2016 assessment as an optional addition only and to give notice to current 1st year students who will be affected by the change next year. Please see the details in the ‘year 2 PhD’ attachment.

If you have any questions regarding your assessments, please contact your supervisor for guidance, any further questions should be directed to either myself or Audrey McKinnon.

Best wishes,
Neil
