PhD careers – the options event, 19 October 2016, 10.00-16.30



There are still some places available at this special careers event for STFC-funded early career researchers. It will be held at the Hallam Conference Centre, 44 Hallam Street, London on 19 October, from 10.00 to 16.30.



Aimed particularly at STFC-funded PhD students in their second, third or fourth years and at STFC-funded postdoctoral researchers, this event will give an insight into the broad range of career paths open to STFC PhD-holders.



You will hear from a range of speakers, all holders of PhDs in nuclear physics, astronomy or particle physics, who have gone on to pursue interesting, successful careers in diverse areas – both in and outside academia.



Professor Jon Butterworth will provide the keynote address and there will then be parallel sessions throughout the day, featuring speakers from the worlds of finance, government, management consultancy, academia, technology development and data science. There will also be a session on improving CVs and interview skills.



Lunch will be provided and there will be a networking/drinks reception at the end.



This event is free to attend and travel costs will be met by STFC. You will be required to pay a £30.00 registration fee, but this will be reimbursed, along with your travel costs, after the event.
