Dear All,
In response to the quinquennial review highlighting a feeling of disconnection between researchers, it has been agreed by HoD that a series of monthly seminar will be introduced to strengthen the cohesion and integration of research staff and students within the department.
These informal seminars will be lead by each research group in turn, providing an overview of their individual research area and the motivation or applications behind their work, as well as presenting recent highlights and capabilities within the group such as access to specialist equipment or research facilities, followed by time for questions or discussion.
The first meeting is scheduled for 18th November at 2pm in JA3.14, run by the CNQO group. The second seminar will be on 16th December at 2pm, JA3.14 where the Plasma group will outline the SCAPA project and new laser facility installed on level 2, with details of subsequent meetings to follow in due course.
These seminars will provide an ideal opportunity to meet and interact with other researchers within the department, as well as potentially opening pathways for useful collaboration or to exploit overlap between the groups. Attendance by both students and post-docs is strongly encouraged, and we hope you will find this a useful platform to broaden your research experience here at Strathclyde.
Kind Regards,
Jonathan Pritchard, Luca Mazzarella and Ross Leyman
