Subject: Final IOP PhD/Postdoc careers event 2017

Dear Colleague,

Please could you promote the final careers event for 2017 to your PhD and Postdocs. Many thanks, Vishanti Fox

Dear Early Career Member,

The IOP and the Nanoscale Physics & Technology Group invites you to attend 'So, you have a PhD in nanoscience? What now?'<https://www.iopconferences.org/iop/1144/home>. This is the last IOP careers event of the year and, if you have missed out on previous events, here is some feedback from your peers on why you should attend...

"Discussions with former PhDs gave me an insight into what we are capable of
achieving away from academia."

"Several career options, I would otherwise not have considered were introduced."

So, you have a PhD in Nanoscience? What now?
Date and time: Tuesday 12 December 2017, 10.30am-2.30pm
Venue: Hallam Conference Centre, 44 Hallam Street, W1W 6JJ
  Book Now <https://www.iopconferences.org/iop/1144/home>

As an early career researcher, you're probably pondering your next career move. Do you stay in academia? Do you use your research skills further afield? How do you make the transition from early career researcher to postdoc and beyond? What skills do employers most value from a researcher and how do I build a career in academia?

At this event, our panel of experienced PhD researchers will talk about their career transition, provide advice, and give you hints and tips on factors to consider when exploring your career options. We will also be running a free CV checking session that you can sign up for on the day.

Invited speakers include: Dr. Mathew Blunt (UCL); Dr. Andrew Pollard (NPL); Dr. Maria Wieland (RIS - Researchers in Schools); Dr. Peter Sharp (MBDA); Dr. Andrew Stannard (KCL); Dr. Richard Woolley (Phasefocus)

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Fees for attendance are £10 for members and £15 for non-members. For more information about membership of the IOP visit iop.org/member.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes,

Vishanti Fox
