CERN are hosting an employer presentation on 5th February 2018 in the Careers Service Seminar Room, Level 6, Livingstone Tower at 5.30pm
CERN would like to meet with students who are about to complete their Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Engineering, IT, Physics (sciences generally) and they also have a small number of Fellowships for admin people (Finance, KT, HR, Law etc).
Register to attend via the Careers Service EVENTS<http://careers.strath.ac.uk/Events> calendar http://careers.strath.ac.uk/Events
Come along to this event to get an insight into engineering at CERN, with a talk from a senior CERN engineer on the experiments, facilities & what their work involves. This will be followed by a Q&A for which he will be joined by a representative of the CERN HR Talent Acquisition team.
In this presentation, you will hear all about engineering at CERN, a unique experience in a unique setting. You will also learn about the various opportunities to learn and work at the Organization with an overview of each of the graduate and student programmes on offer, including technical studentships, summer programmes and doctoral opportunities.
Company Information
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. They use the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter - the fundamental particles. The particles are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives the physicists clues about how the particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
The instruments used at CERN are purpose-built particle accelerators<https://home.cern/about/how-accelerator-works> and detectors<https://home.cern/about/how-detector-works>. Accelerators boost beams of particles to high energies before the beams are made to collide with each other or with stationary targets. Detectors observe and record the results of these collisions.
Find out how to apply. There will be hints and tips on the application and recruitment process and time for you to ask questions.
More information about CERN and opportunities for students and graduates is available via https://home.cern/students-educators
