Subject: BP1 and BP2 Registration for Academic Year 2019-2020

Dear Colleagues,

Could I remind you that the BP1 and BP2 online registration form for the academic year 2019/2020 is now live.  These forms are accessible via Pegasus and must be completed by all staff and post graduate students working with biological material.  4th year undergraduate students are also required to register prior to commencing work with biological material.  4th year undergraduates and post graduate students must complete and print off the relevant form and seek approval from their supervisor prior to submission via Pegasus.  Any new biological workers can still register throughout the academic year, via Pegasus.  On completion, this form will be sent electronically to you, as Departmental Safety Convener, who can then approve work to commence.

The BP1 and BP2 online registration forms, along with the associated guidance, can be found easily on Pegasus, in the Safety Services section under the Human Resources tab.  As a reminder:

*        BP1 - This Form should be completed by those working with biological agents
*        BP2 - This Form should be completed by those working with animal or human blood, blood products, tissue or body fluids.

Please be reminded that no paper copies should be sent to Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing.  Once the biological worker has submitted their form online, you, as DSC, will be able to interrogate the system and monitor who has/has not registered.  Work with biological material is not permitted without prior registration.  This database is held on Pegasus for security and confidentiality purposes to which Occupational Health Safety and Wellbeing have administrative rights.
