- European Economic Area (EEA)

- Commonwealth citizen

- Swiss national

- Turkish national, in some circumstances

You must be a British citizen to apply for some posts, particularly those related to security and intelligence. There are also some caveats for different schemes e.g. for the Diplomatic scheme, you have to have lived in the UK for 2 of the last 10 years
