Subject: PGR AFHEA Peer Network
Dear Colleagues,
The RDP Team are now ready to support our 2nd cohort of PGRs who teach in applying for Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy<https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/individuals/fellowship/associate-fellow>.
Working in partnership with OSDU we have created a programme of support for PGRs who have had at least one semester of relevant teaching activity. Students will receive an introduction to the HEA fellowship scheme, will join a dedicated peer network and receive support and feedback as they prepare their application for AFHEA.
We are running an information session for PGRs on 18 March covering the process and timelines.
Please can you circulate the following to PGRs who teach in your department/ school?
********************************************
As a PGR who teaches you can get formal recognition for your skills and practice that is valued by HE employers by applying to become an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).<https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/individuals/fellowship/associate-fellow>
AFHEA brings you a range of benefits:
* consolidates your personal development and emphasises your professional practice in HE
* entitlement to use post-nominal letters - AFHEA
* provides a valuable measure of success and is increasingly sought by employers across the education sector as a condition of appointment and promotion
* recognised and valued by a growing number of international institutions
The RDP Team will support you through this process and so are running an information session on Wednesday 18 March, 13:30, in Graham Hills 739.
Please book your place at https://bookings.strath.ac.uk/Home/Course/4239 to find out about the application process, the peer support network and associated timelines.
You can also join the dedicated Myplace page here: https://classes.myplace.strath.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=24262
Any queries can be emailed to the RDP Team at researcher.development at strath.ac.uk<mailto:researcher.development at strath.ac.uk>
Best wishes
Gabrielle
