Strathclyde is one of four universities and colleges piloting the EmilyTest Charter, which has been created to improve prevention and intervention of gender-based violence, and support for those affected, in universities and colleges.

Increasing diversity and inclusion
Formula 1 will fund two Engineering Scholarships for under-represented groups at the University of Strathclyde as part of its #WeRaceAsOne<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/q2epcn0heygxru4xfpp9cz/external?email=true&a=5&p=59845675&t=31139333> initiative.
The initiative, launched last year, aims to increase diversity and inclusion across Formula 1, in addition to the wider plans the company set out in its diversity and inclusion strategy in 2019.
Formula 1 announced last year that as a sport it would focus specifically on creating employment and education opportunities for underrepresented groups with a personal contribution of $1 million from Non- Executive Chairman, Chase Carey to finance primarily, but not exclusively, Engineering-focused scholarships for underrepresented students.

Developed to treat cutaneous lupus
A licensing deal for a treatment for anti-inflammatory diseases has been signed by the University of Strathclyde and US-based company Vimelea Therapeutics.
Vimelea has been established for the specific purpose of commercialising the technology, which will be developed to treat cutaneous lupus but which also has the potential to be used against arthritis, asthma and other inflammatory diseases.
The technology for this therapeutic platform has been developed in research at Strathclyde and the University of Glasgow.

Demonstrates the power of collaborating across multiple sectors
The University of Strathclyde, insurance group AIG, and Aberdeen-based Wood have formed a partnership which will support cities and businesses as they transition to zero-carbon economies and respond to the resilience challenges created by climate change.
The partners will work with cities including COP26 host Glasgow, Milan and Pittsburgh, and a range of industries from energy to telecoms to develop strategies for improved sustainability and resilience. Other cities in the Global North and Global South are expected to join the partnership.

Engineers Without Borders Engineering for People Design Challenge

A team of third year Civil & Environmental Engineering students made the top six in the Grand Final of The Engineers Without Borders Engineering for People Design Challenge,<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/8pbqugp95htxru4xfpp9cz/external?email=true&a=5&p=59845675&t=31355932> a global competition attracting entries from nearly 10,000 students from South Africa, UK, Ireland and the USA.
The global competition, which saw engineering students design real world solutions to issues faced by two coastal communities in Peru, uses the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/rhzuxqqc9npxru4xfpp9cz/external?email=true&a=5&p=59845675&t=31355932> (SDGs) to inspire and influence global responsibility through engineering.

The ‘Success’ series is a set of monthly interactive workshops, delivered over a six-month period via Zoom, providing simple continuous improvement techniques which will engender success for you and your team.
