Additional leave over the festive break
9 January return for the majority of staff

For the majority of our staff, this leave will be taken on 4, 5, and 6 January, with a return on Monday 9 January.
If these specific days cannot be taken for operational reasons alternative arrangements can be made to take these leave days in discussion with your line manager.

CELCIS, the Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection, is asking school-aged children and young people (up to age 18) in care in Scotland who love to be creative, to come up with a festive design for the CELCIS Christmas card.

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks Transmission (SSEN-T), the owner of north Scotland’s high voltage electricity assets, are aiming to achieve a 30% reduction in their operational carbon emissions by 2025-26.
The Innovation Exchange is working alongside SSEN-T to engage innovators who can provide solutions for greener alternatives to diesel generators which are used for emergency supply in electrical substations.

A postgraduate researcher from the University of Strathclyde has been presented with BAE Systems’ prestigious PhD Student of the Year award for his innovative engineering concept for marine vessels.
Final year PhD student Callum Stark, 26, from the University’s Naval Architecture, Ocean & Marine Engineering (NAOME) department was selected as the overall winner for his research to create quieter marine propellers, ‘Engineering leading-edge tubercles to reduce sub-aqua noise pollution’.

To equip staff with the skills to deal with bullying, sexual harassment and intimidation in the workplace

Nil by Mouth is a charity which tackles sectarianism in Scotland.
They will be running their ‘Beyond Religion and Belief’ training session which is open to all staff at the University.
This training addresses discrimination and sectarianism in the workplace, providing participants with a framework for understanding and tackling this issue.
Themes include football, religious schooling, marches, history and cultural intolerance.
