This is the first time these engagement sessions have all been held face-to-face on campus since 2019.
The Principal will give an update on Strathclyde activities and present the consultation draft of our Strategic Plan to 2030.

[Student at lecture]The End-of-Semester 2 student module evaluation window opens from Week 8 (Monday 6 March) through to the end of Week 1 of Spring Break (Friday 7 April).
Module leaders (Class Co-ordinator or equivalent) should ensure that they activate Module Evaluation in Myplace and select appropriate dates for their module to be included at least three days in advance (i.e. by the end of day on a Wednesday to go live on the Monday of the following week).

Update on continuing sewer investigations

Professor Sir John Arbuthnott, former Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, has died at the age of 83.
Sir John, pictured left in 1992, was Strathclyde’s third Principal, leading the University from 1991 to 2000.

Kristin recently joined Strathclyde as a Knowledge Exchange Associate in the Centre for Forensic Science and will be responsible for developing new training initiatives for professionals from across forensic science, law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
She tells us about her previous role in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration as well as the continuing professional development (CPD) courses she is developing at the University.

A new outreach programme launched by the University of Strathclyde is engaging hundreds of pupils across ten Glasgow primary schools.
Under the ‘Young Strathclyder’ pilot, primary seven pupils are receiving in-school visits, while there are campus visits for those in primary six.

The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences this month hosted a two-week long language and culture visit for 16 English teachers from South Korea.
This was part of the English Language Teaching, Culture and Education programme. The initiative gives visiting educators the opportunity to take English classes while experiencing Scottish culture and education.

Pilot for early stage/pre-application help
[Marie Henderson]Several research funders/councils (UKRI; Wellcome; European Commission, etc.) expect researchers to submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) as part of a grant bid /funding application pro forma. These DMPs are reviewed by peer reviewers, along with other documentation, such as the Case for Support.
Preparing a thorough DMP will also help to identify costs associated with research data management and sharing activities, meaning researchers can factor these in, and seek costs from funders, at the application stage.
