As part of Strathclyde Safe360°, we are committed to a safe campus for all and believe everyone who is a part of the University community: staff, students, and visitors, have a responsibility in ensuring this is the case.
We recently introduced a new and improved Report & Support system.
The purpose of our new system is to have a better reporting tool that allows us to collate information quicker with better reports and more statistics, which will allow us to notice and flag up any recurring issues quicker.

Starting at the end of March
[Telephone wires]The University’s telephone infrastructure is being upgraded in preparation for Openreach’s analogue switch-off in 2025, and we’re moving to an enhanced hybrid telephone system.
Once the upgrade is complete, staff will benefit from additional telephone features, while maintaining their existing physical desk phones and phone numbers.

New SharePoint site and drop-in office hours session on 31 March
[Communications and Marketing open doors session]

[Students in PC labs]Information Services (ISD) are currently preparing for the delivery of central student computing for the academic year 2023-24.
ISD provide and maintain software on 1500 computers across campus.

[World in hands]The Bonn Climate Change Conference (Subsidiary Body for Implementation SB 58) will review important technical issues and prepare decisions for adoption at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in United Arab Emirates in November.

[Dr Paul Kirkland]The Faculty of Engineering is proud to announce that two of its students, Lisa Petry and Georgina Lundy, are among four from Strathclyde to have been selected to present posters at this year's BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium.
Lisa and Georgina's selection is a testament to their hard work and dedication to their studies, as well as to the quality of teaching and research at the University.

2023/24 Executive Officers announced
[Strath Union Elections 2023]
The results are in following another Election season at Strath Union.
This year there were 79 candidates across 23 positions and 19,463 votes cast by 3,605 voters.
This represents 15.7% of the student population at Strathclyde and is the biggest turnout for a Spring Election ever.

New Strathclyde research suggests that around 0.5% of global carbon emissions could be captured during the normal crushing process of rocks commonly used in construction, by crushing them in CO2 gas.

[Strathclyde architects and engineers complete rebuild of Nepal school damaged by 2017 earthquake and flood]
When a strong earthquake struck Nepal in April 2015 it killed almost 9,000 people and destroyed or damaged more than 8,000 schools. Floods which occurred in 2017 caused further devastation and even today many buildings and villages remain in a parlous state.
As a regular visitor to the Indian sub-continent for the Faculty of Engineering, International Recruitment Advisor Christine Donald wanted to do something to help.

[Team building]This is a new modular programme of development sessions designed specifically for technical staff on grades TS03 – TS05.
The programme is designed to complement job specific training and development that is taking place in the candidate’s workplace.
