Today (20 June) marks the start of our summer graduation ceremonies as we celebrate the success of our latest cohort of graduands when they receive their degrees following many years of hard work and dedication to their studies.

Changes to making external telephone calls
[Telephone]The University telephone service has recently migrated to a digital voice service ahead of the switch off of the UK’s analogue telephone network.
When dialling externally you must now include the full national area dialling code. For example, if you are used to dialling a local Glasgow number like “5524400” you must now include the area code and dial “01415524400”.
This does not affect dialling extensions internally which are still reached by their four-digit extension number.

[Michelle Donnelly]
Strathclyde alumna, Michelle Donnelly, completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in law at the University. She worked in student support, teaching and research roles and then returned to the University in 2021 as a lecturer at the Law School with her former PhD supervisors becoming her colleagues.
Michelle talks about the development and research opportunities being based at the University has given her, which includes participating in international conferences and developing new classes to deliver and teach.

At an awards ceremony earlier this month, Strathclyde Business School, celebrated excellence in both teaching and knowledge exchange, with the nominations and winners representing various departments, centres, job families and grades.
There were four categories for teaching and four Dean's awards for Outstanding Tutoring.
Professor Susan Howick, SBS Vice Dean, Academic, reflected: "Once again, the nominations demonstrated all the innovative teaching practices being implemented within SBS and the support our staff give to enhance the student experience."

Homes for Good, a social enterprise letting agency founded by Strathclyde Enterprise Fellow Dr Susan Aktemel, has won an international award for its work in providing good-quality accommodation for tenants on low incomes or with additional support needs.
Homes for Good was named the winner of the Gold Award from World Habitat, a not-for-profit organisation which promotes innovative housing policy and practice.
The award was announced at the International Social Housing Festival in Barcelona, in which Homes for Good took part in a session, co-hosted by World Habitat, on Affordable Housing and Homelessness Best Practice.

A team from Strathclyde has won the 2023 International Innovation Competition. The Apps4Good team, who recently won project funding<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/1a4po252zxcw5sb93d38j4?email=true&lang=en&a=5&p=63170326&t=32786536> from a competition held at the ESD at Strath Conference, developed an app that assists in the delivery of aid to homeless people in Glasgow.
Fourteen universities based all over the world participated in the international competition organised by the VIP Consortium.

The art exhibition will be running from 17-28 July in Glasgow
[CELCIS logo]‘Drawing Together’, an exhibition of original artwork, photography and films by young refugees in Scotland, Finland and Norway, opens in Glasgow during Refugee Festival Scotland 2023.
This free event is a showcase for a three-year research project, ‘Drawing Together’, led by Professor Ravi KS Kohli from the University of Bedfordshire, working with research centres in Scotland, Finland, and Norway.
CELCIS, the Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection, based at the University of Strathclyde, provides research support to the project’s Scottish team.

[Best Bar None Award]
Best Bar None is a national accreditation and award scheme for licensed premises. The team behind the scheme presented The Terrace at Strath Union with the Best Bar None Scotland National Platinum award yesterday (19 June).
The bar team at the Union have been involved in the BBN Glasgow Initiative since 2013 and have achieved the BBN Glasgow Gold Standard every year since then.
