Dear students,

The PGR Travel Award has been updated and relaunched for the 2023/24 academic year.
The updated guidance document and application form for the PGR Travel Award can be found on the RKES Portal<https://strath.sharepoint.com/sites/rkes/SitePages/Postgraduate-Research-(PGR)-Travel-Award.aspx>. Please note there is a link to PGR Travel information on our PGR Myplace page as well.
Doctoral students who are not in receipt of travel or RTSG funds as part of their studentship are eligible to receive one PGR Travel Award during their studies to present their research at a conference. Students in write-up can receive the Award up until one year after their minimum duration has ended, or until they submit their thesis, whichever comes first. Any eligibility queries should be directed at the PGR Funding Team.
The current maximum requests are as follows:

  * Online/virtual conferences (registration fees only)
£150

  * UK (Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands
£200

  * Europe (not including the UK)
£480

  * Rest of the World (outside of Europe)
£840

All applications to the PGR Travel Award need a matched contribution from an eligible source of equal or greater value to that which is requested from the PGR Travel Award. More detail on this is provided in the associated guidance document on the RKES Portal<https://strath.sharepoint.com/sites/rkes/SitePages/Postgraduate-Research-(PGR)-Travel-Award.aspx>.
To comply with University guidance on travel on university business, all applications require approval from the Head of Department, a completed risk assessment, a travel insurance notification to be completed on Pegasus, and it is recommended that the University's travel management company Clarity Travel is used when booking the travel. Evidence of conference participation is also required to be submitted alongside the application.
If you have any queries regarding the PGR Travel Award, please direct them to the PGR Funding Team at rkes-pgrfunding at strath.ac.uk<mailto:rkes-pgrfunding at strath.ac.uk>.
Kind regards,
Jani
