Giving Day update
Over £200,000 raised

These donations will support young people in accessing higher education and enable our students to have the best possible University experience through one of our four Giving Day projects: the University's Alumni Fund; the Young Strathclyder programme; the Scholarships Fund; or, our health research.

Disability History Month (DHM) provides a space to focus on the history of the disabled rights movement and the struggle for equality and human rights.
The month is also an opportunity to challenge the myths and stereotypes that permeate the lives of disabled people, and to elevate the voices of disabled people of the past and present.

The 2023 Strathclyde Christmas Toy Appeal is up and running and will be accepting donations until 11 December.
Strathclyde Business School students on the MDP3 Social Responsibility Pathway are again helping to run the appeal which will be donating gifts to several charities and schools in the Glasgow area and beyond.

Communication from Strathclyde colleagues to GSC should be routed through new address

The University was approached by the Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) and asked to create a single point of contact for information flow to and from GSC to avoid bottlenecks and delays in response.
From an institutional point of view this will allow us to create an overall picture of the partnership working and activities and streamline our communications.

If you are still using a device that isn’t capable of receiving 4G or 5G networks, you will no longer be able to access any network, resulting in no mobile data service access after 3G is switched off.

CELCIS, the Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection, is asking school-aged children and young people in Scotland (up to age 18) with care experience who love to be creative, to come up with a festive design for the CELCIS Christmas card.
The winner will receive a £50 shopping voucher and there are several runner up prizes of £10 vouchers.

Zara Mohammed graduated in Human Rights Law in 2016
[Zara Mohammed named Alumna of the Year 2023]
Zara Mohammed, the secretary-general of The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), has been named as the University of Strathclyde’s Alumna of the Year 2023.
Glasgow-born Ms Mohammed is the first woman leader of the MCB, an organisation that represents mosques, Islamic schools and Muslim associations in the UK.

The voucher is aimed at building sustained relationships between small/medium-sized companies (SMEs) and universities or colleges in Scotland who may have previously collaborated together or for those companies who are beginning their collaborative journey with a HEI / college partner.
It works on a sliding scale basis with a matched grant of up to £20,000.

The AKT programme has been designed to create short term collaborations between a Business Partner and the University to rapidly inject innovation capacity.
Inspired by the highly successful partnership model of KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership), Innovate UK – Accelerated Knowledge Transfer’s concept is to deliver a rapid and targeted intervention to accelerate the evaluation or development of an innovation project or concept, which has the potential for significant impact for the Business Partner.

Help us to spread the message about the Brighter Futures Grants, a new initiative aimed at providing students with funding to support their studies, developed in partnership with Santander Universities.

Lifeguard course at Strathclyde Sport
8-12 January 2024
[Lifeguard]Strathclyde Sport are running a STA pool lifeguard course from 8-12 January 2024. Available to all, it is £260 for Strathclyde Sport members and Strathclyde staff and students (£285 for external).
A pre-requisite swim will be required.
