Hi all,

We have now extended the abstract deadline until 28 June 2024!!

To celebrate the 82nd World Science Fiction Convention being hosted in Glasgow on August 8th - 12th 2024, the University of Strathclyde IEEE Student Branch is excited to host our IEEE Stranger Than Fiction poster competition!

The aim of the competition is to present recent research or inventions from your research group, but with the added creative challenge of wildly extrapolating them to some future sci-fi uses! This won't be your regular conference poster, with the majority of the scoring on the creativity of the wild sci-fi uses, and judging by a mix of technical and creative people!

The top three posters will receive a 5-day entry to the convention (worth £230). The convention has a packed programme including the announcement of the Hugo Awards, theatrical performances, an opera, an orchestra, traders, exhibitions, as well as a scientific and academic programme!

Extended Deadline for Abstract: 28th June 2024

Eligibility: Student or Graduate Student Member of the IEEE and a student / research student from the University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow or Glasgow Caledonian University.
Note that IEEE membership is only around £10!, and those who get their abstract accepted will have the IEEE membership reimbursed by the IEEE SB!!
