Dear All,

Generally tutorial support is 20 hours of teaching and 20 hours of preparation per 20 credit module. Note that in years 1 - 3 the modules run over both semesters so support would be 10 hours + 10 hours per semester (please indicate one or both semesters). Computational/skills modules may have different requirements.
There may also be the possibility to support the 1st or 2nd year experimental labs. These take place
Y1: 9am - 12pm or 2pm - 5pm on Mondays
Y2: 1pm - 5pm on Tuesdays or 9am - 1pm on Wednesdays
Please let us know if this is something you are particularly keen to be involved with.
Information about individual modules can be found here: https://but.mis.strath.ac.uk/modulecatalogue/#/. Although the 2024/25 timetable is not available yet, classes are running mainly the same as the previous academic year and details can be found here: https://cts.strath.ac.uk/Scientia/live2324sws/default.aspx?cont/ext=modules
The current rates of pay are:
Tutorial work
£17.20 per hour
Demonstrating
£14.11 per hour
Training
£14.11 per hour (10 hours) - please note that you do not have to re-do the training if you have done it before.
(Please note Finance Department have advised that Right to Work checks now require to be carried out each academic year so regardless of when any previous Right to Work check has been carried out, we will require to do a current check prior to any work being undertaken.)
There is no limit to the number of modules that you can apply to work on, but it is important to note that once you have been allocated module(s) you will be required to undertake compulsory training before starting in a support role if you have not already done so. This will take around 10 hours and will be paid. Details are attached.
If you are interested in working as a support tutor for any of the above modules, please complete this online form https://forms.office.com/e/1um7jAYSnP by 5pm on Friday 23 August to let us know which modules you are interested in and to give us a brief explanation of your suitability for the module and any relevant skills you possess.
Allocation will depend on class sizes and is expected to be finalised by the end of August.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Jacqui
