Celebrating the contributions of our long serving colleagues
[Long service awards 2024]
Long serving colleagues with a combined 2,765 years of service were celebrated at a special ceremony on Thursday 19 September in the Barony Hall.
The 98 colleagues who recently reached milestones of 25 and 40 years of service were congratulated by Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Jim McDonald.

Dame Sue Bruce, our current Convener, will leave office in July 2025, after eight years leading Court in that role.
Court is the University’s governing body, providing high-level strategic direction to the University. It has a responsibility for overseeing our management and administration.

Strathclyde has opened an Innovation, Research and Education Hub in Bahrain offering a range of programmes across Engineering, Science and Business.
The Hub, developed in partnership with S Eleven Educational and located in the capital city Manama, expands the University’s presence in the country where it has been delivering MBA teaching since 1995. Later phases of the project will include research and innovation activities.
The Hub was officially opened by His Highness Prince Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa of the Bahraini royal family, and Professor Stephen McArthur, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

As part of this preparation and to make improvements to data quality, a system change was released on Thursday 19 September to enable the Student Record system to accurately reflect modules delivered during the third teaching period, which will be displayed across Student Records as "Summer 3 2024/25”.

This exhibition of 10 paintings of oil and acrylic on canvas, each acknowledging the role of Black African women as custodians of vibrant cultures and their efforts in preserving the beauty of diverse African cultures from clothing, artefacts, basketry and more. The throughline is the traditional attire worn by women across different regions of Africa.

In the penultimate lecture of the Town and Gown series, Professor Sir Harry Burns will discuss the science of how our experiences determine how our brains work and how we value ourselves and others.
He will also examine the societal conflicts that divide us — whether between social classes or in the current turmoil in the Middle East, and ultimately ask 'what kind of world could we create if we chose care and compassion over exploitation and violence?'
