Strathclyde has been named Scottish Top Employer of the Year and Top Employer of the Year in the large business category at The Herald Top Employer Awards 2024.
Judges lauded the University for its commitment to employee development, inclusivity and positive workplace culture and its data-driven approach to driving growth based on its core values.
In celebration of this achievement, all colleagues will benefit from an additional day of annual leave to be taken on Monday 23 December, this is on top of the previous extra day of annual leave given (Tuesday 24 December) following our success at the cHeRries Awards.

[https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/v3files/shard1/85313/d2/b6829de5c210bb25d348e7.png]To mark Men’s Health Awareness Month, Strathclyde is hosting a breakfast event for all colleagues, with guest speakers from two local charities – Cahonas Scotland, which raises awareness about testicular cancer, and Prostate Scotland – as well as testimony from two colleagues who have lived experience as cancer survivors.
Early detection is so important for a positive prognosis but statistics show that men are less likely to go to their GP and seek support. It's hoped that this session will help to raise awareness around the prevalence of these cancers, the signs and symptoms to be aware of, and encourage self-testing and early medical support.

British Heart Foundation reveals stunning images from groundbreaking research

The competition challenges researchers to capture the beauty and mystery of art and science, as they showcase awe-inspiring displays of lifesaving research.

This was initiated to tackle the poor employment outcomes of autistic graduates reported annually in Graduate Outcomes data.
Senior Careers Consultant Anna Selwood (pictured) tells us how extending the eligibility criteria has enabled a disabled graduate to undertake a successful placement with OSDU, and we hear from OSDU's Digital Developer, Natalia Gasiorek, who was the project supervisor.

[Kenneth Norrie]Emeritus Professor Kenneth Norrie will give the 22nd Kilbrandon Lecture entitled ‘Who then, in law, is my parent?’.
The lecture will examine the various ways in which the law defines a “parent” and explore, through case-law, how adult disputes can complicate the issue. Professor Norrie will also consider why legal recognition of parenthood should be regarded in law as a stable concept.
