Strathclyde’s former Student Union building on John Street will be transformed into a digital, entrepreneurial and social engagement hub, thanks to the support of successful alumnus donor Charles Huang.
The building will be named the Charles Huang Advanced Technology & Innovation Centre (CHATIC) in recognition of a £30 million contribution to the project by Dr Charles Huang, global business leader and founder of private equity firm Pasaca Capital Inc.

Disability History Month (DHM) provides a platform to focus on the history of the disabled rights movement and the struggle for equality and human rights.
The month is also an opportunity to challenge the myths and stereotypes that permeate the lives of disabled people, and to elevate the voices of disabled people of the past and present.

Works to reduce the environmental impact get underway this week
[John Anderson Building facade works]
The project will see the installation of a fully insulated rainscreen over-cladding system incorporating new high-performance, triple-glazed windows that will reduce current fabric heat losses by a calculated 54.97%.
This equates to approximately 60 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per annum of carbon savings that will help towards the University’s journey to Net Zero.

Reverse Vending Machines are now live on campus
Collaborative campaign with Keep Scotland Beautitful, 'No Lectures: Sort It, Recycle It'

The new RVMs can be found on Level one of the Learning & Teaching Building, and the ground floor of TIC. For every empty plastic bottle or aluminum can you recycle using the machines, 20p will be donated to a local charity of your choice.

The artwork is based around reflections from Bill Speirs – a politics student at Strathclyde and later General Secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress – on attitudes to sexuality in the 1970s.
