The University has appointed Professor Stephen McArthur as its new Principal & Vice-Chancellor.
Professor McArthur, currently Associate Principal and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, will take over the role from Professor Sir Jim McDonald when he steps down on 31 August.

[Safe360 logo]Safe360° means incorporating safety in every area of University life and the new Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023, which came into force last October, places a positive and proactive legal obligation on all employers to take reasonable steps to protect our colleagues from sexual harassment during their employment.

How being a ‘buddy’ can further your professional development

Each year DFN Project SEARCH, which is now open for applications, provides work placements for young people with autism or a learning disability so they can develop their skills and become ready for work.
Strathclyde staff play an important role in the programme’s success – by being a ‘buddy’ you can provide vital support to help an intern reach their employability goal as well as developing skills which benefit your own career development.
In new video interviews, buddy Donna-Maria Bowers (pictured) from the Catering Team and her former intern Andrew tell us about their experience of the programme.

[Professor H Sama Nwana]One of the UK’s foremost telecoms experts has been appointed as a Visiting Professor of the University of Strathclyde.
Professor H Sama Nwana, who was formerly Group Director of Ofcom, the UK regulatory body for the communications industry, will be hosted by the StrathSDR (Strathclyde Software-defined Radio) team within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

On 10 - 11 April, Worcester will host the World Bike Bus Summit in 2025, with leaders from cycling communities in North America, Europe and across the UK convening to amplify and drive independent mobility for children cycling to school.

[Strathclyde Named Official Women’s Performance Partner for Glasgow Warriors]
The University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Warriors have further strengthened their long-term relationship, with the University becoming the rugby union club's Official Women's Performance Partner.
As well as Glasgow Warriors Women competing with the University’s logo on their playing shirts, the evolution of the partnerships sees the recruitment of Ciera Campbell as Head Coach of the University Women’s Rugby team.

Participants will also learn about the Strath Union-led Strath Decolonial Academy.
These sessions will explore how staff and students can collaborate, share best practices, and support one another in embedding decolonial and anti-racist approaches in teaching and research. Come and develop your learning and teaching practice.
