Dear All,
Please see the opportunity below for students from European Space Agency members states (plus other eligible countries) to participate in a Concurrent Engineering Workshop.
Concurrent Engineering Workshop Open for Applications
ESA’s Education Office is looking for 28 talented and motivated university students with an engineering or physics background, to participate in the ESA Academy’s 4-day Concurrent Engineering Workshop held at ESA Academy’s Training and Learning Facility in ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium, from 23 to 26 September 2025.
This workshop will expose students to real-life concurrent engineering approach practices while designing a mission. Concurrent engineering is a method of designing and developing products for the space sector. Contrary to traditional design methods, in concurrent engineering all subsystems are designed simultaneously. This is a far more efficient way of working but comes with its own unique challenge: solutions in one area that could impact the design of another subsystem must be instantly identified and communicated between teams. Although concurrent engineering is a more complex process to begin with, in effect it allows engineering discrepancies to be identified – and rectified – earlier, therefore reducing the overall design time.
Throughout the workshop, students will attend lectures on Concurrent Engineering and work in teams to apply Concurrent Engineering to their mission design.
Please apply here<https://www.esa.int/Education/ESA_Academy/Concurrent_Engineering_Workshop_Open_for_Applications2>
The deadline for applications is 23 June 2025, 23:59 CEST.
Best wishes,
Rachel
