[UKNC] TRCL opening

Dear All, 

Some of you may know that we have recently installed an SEM with
time-resolved cathodoluminescence (TRCL) capability in the Wolfson
Electron Microscopy Suite. This is a microscope which can measure the
light emission arising upon excitation with an electron beam in the SEM
at spatial resolutions down to about 10 nm. The system is appropriate
for materials which emit light at wavelengths from 200 nm to 1.7 microns
and can be used at temperatures from 10 K up to room temperature. As
well as being able to provide emission spectra with high spatial
resolution, it can access the dynamics of light emission at timescales
as short as 30 ps.
